Mirror Of Deception (GER) / Tefra (UK) - Natural Healer Of Sin - Split 7''

This is the latest release of Germany’s Metal Coven Records an independent Metal label that specializes only in the release of limited vinyl singles for the glory of Steel. Search in your collection all you vinyl maniacs out there I am sure that you would find at least one release of Metal Coven providing that your favorite type of music is METAL. Having released split vinyl singles by bands like Ritual Steel & Reverend Bizarre, After All & Ram and Atlantean Kodex & Vestal Claret, just to mention a few it is time for their new release which is a split 7’’ vinyl including one song by Germany’s Pure Doomsters Mirror Of Deception and two songs by UK’s Epic Doomsters Tefra.

Katharsis the song by Mirror Of Deception would remind you from the very first listening the bands second "Foregne" full length release. Slow to mid tempo Pure Doom Metal guided by a mournful but still apocalyptic lead melody which is the trademark of the song, great lead theme. Tombstone mid tempo riffing and nice double guitar work marks the entire song and the chorus is –as expected- one of the strongest features in here following the tradition of those great Mirror Of deception choruses. A melodic bridge and a heavy a shell Doomy breaking would drive the song into its final crescendo when the main lead melody is again on the foreground played on mid tempo before it gets a little faster just before the end. Great song.

I really left speechless when I first the heard “Natural Healer Of Sin” by UK’s Tefra. I was aware of the great songwriting improvement of the band after the hearing of their farewell full length “The Last Dance” but I was caught on sleep listening to this great tune which I will consider as one of Tefra’s best composition’s –along with “Efialtes” from the last album. Christos vocals are simply brilliant in this song which is a mid tempo Doom Metal anthem including a mournful melodic breaking somewhere in the middle. Seriously I caught myself listening to the song about 10-15 times after my first hearing. You got to listen it to understand and mainly focus on the fucking great guitar job and of course to the vocals –probably the greatest vocal approach by Christos, what can I write?-….

“Relic Of Time” is another very good song by Tefra yes it is still Heavy As Hell is is a little bit slower than “Natural Healer Of Sun” and you would sure like it. It carries a serious Pure / Old School Doom Metal touch which I really enjoyed.
