Revenance - Omen of Tragedy

(Permeated Records) Total Time: 45:52

This is the first attempt of the New Yorkers to leave the listener wondering why they hadn’t worshiped REVENANCE “sooner” as they say. Take it easy boys…High self assurance is needed, but they should avoid being so cocky having only one album.
Nevertheless they play furious american death metal with a touch of grindcore using plenty cuts and outbreaks in the likes of Suffocation and Dying Fetus.   Their line up is:
Colin Fitzgerald – Guitars
Mike Falco – Guitar
Seth Cueavas – Drums
Joe Marchese – Vocals
All the band members are skilful players and the vocals are really heavy and deep with a lot of distortion especially in the slow parts of the album.
REVENANCE follow a D.I.Y. ethic which means that they care more for the rawness rather than the clarity of their sound. They managed to achieve this primitive sense in the production without being outdated and without burying their creativity. The album ends with almost ten minutes of some bird sounds in the forest and a quick blastbeat after that. Innovative but somehow weird!
What makes the good impression even better is their highly organised promo cd from their Italian record company accompanied with two pages of information. “Omen of Tragedy” has been released in limited edition CD with poster and sticker included. During the next two months (November-December 2006) REVENANCE will be giving some shows in the US either on their own or supporting bands like Napalm Death and Dying Fetus. Not bad for the promising rookies.
