Metal Invader - The True Metal Experience

This cold Sunday night was about to be colder when the arrival of our beloved Finnish band AMORPHIS, who let their wonderful music flow through our ears and souls made it warmer…That was their third visit to our country and all their loyal fans were all in the building ready to enjoy them once more.

The first support band named AMORAL entered the stage on time, at 8:00 o clock, presenting their new music style (which turned from technical death metal into a combination among heavy/death/thrash and melodic power groove with occasional sing along chorus with vocal similarities to singers like Sebastian Bach -Skid Row-).

The sound was good but could be much better. Very nice compositions, but the crowd unfortunately didn't seem to appreciate it, as they were mostly discussing with each other instead of concentrating to the band playing. With what I got really angry was that somebody who was next to me, was making fun of their thin silluetes and singers' voice instead of listening to what they were playing.

After leaving the stage, BEFORE THE DAWN appeared immediately with no delay and started to play their metal/gothic stuff. Actually not my cup of tea to be honest, but I must admit that their music was nice in general, yet I would prefer to pay more attention to their musical expressions at home by myself. The sound was not as good as it should be. Everybody was looking forward for the headliners to show up though and they were making so much noise that I could not figure out what they were playing sometimes…

As the audience was being in a very anxious anticipation AMORPHIS was getting ready to show up and kick some asses. They entered the scene with two tracks from their latest album "Sky forger" and the audience was on the one hand pleased to see them, on the other kinda confused about the bad sound. We were all hoping for its improvement by the next song which was "Towards and against " from their previous album "The silent waters" with the audience singing along together with the excellent frontman. What followed next was "The castaway", but I did not feel that sense of shivering it brings me whenever I hear it. The guitars' volume was very lowme, especially in the middle part of the song. We were still hopeful for the sound to be as it was ought to be. We then heard various songs from previous albums includes "Against widows" which was interrupted by "Cares" and "On Rich and Poor" before returning to its normal form. After three songs we were pleased to hear the first tunes of "Magic and mayhem" followed by "Black winter day" where we unfortunately missed all the magic of the beginning due to its bad sound once again… They left us after playing "Sign form the left side" from their first album as encore, which was performed excellently and the sound FINALLY seemed to be better. After that "House of sleep " continued and then "My kantele" which made our flesh creep.

The gig was very nice in general even though the band (except for the singer) seemed to be a little bit more tired than the last time we saw them and I have that bitter taste in my mouth, just because I strongly believe that if the sound was not so poor, we would enjoy the concert 100 % .I hope next time things will be better.
