Behemoth - Zos Kia Cultus

(Avantgarde Music)

Almost 2 years have passed since the release of “Thelema.6” the band’s most successful release to date and the trio from Poland strikes back with a brand new release entitled “Zos kia cultus”. As you all know BEHEMOTH’s sound is close to the sound of MORBID ANGEL. What you will realize while listening to “Zos kia cultus” is that they introduced new elements in their sound and slower parts. For instance “Horns ov baphomet” is an opener but strangely not a hyperblasting piece like for instance “Decade of ΘΕΡΙΟΝ” or “Antichristian phenomenon” in their last 2 album. Contrary, they have chosen a slower opening track but with a “victorious”, “triumphant” essence and also some oriental riffs are now being introduced reminding us a lot of the experimental side of MORBID ANGEL’s sound and of course NILE. The elements that the band cultivated throughout the years are all included and revealed in full glory. Nergal’s voice is for one more time absolutely great and fits the whole climate absolutely perfect. Concluding, I shall notice that the cover artwork and the design are of great quality. Don’t miss one of the best death metal albums of the year.
