(Strange Fruit) Total Time: 73:57
Needless to say that PARADISE LOST are the most influential and overall most important thing that happened to Scene metal (sic) during the 90s. With an ever-growing, evolutionary career and monumental albums such as “Gothic”, “Shades of god”, “Icon”, “Draconian times” they proved and hopefully they keep proving that they will never actually compromise with the standards and boundaries that Scene metal (sic) has created. Most probably you will all know that PARADISE LOST are no longer a “metal” band and that most probably resulted from the fact that they are sick and tired of all those “true” bands that keep creating music in order to satisfy a “devoted” audience. They are willing to explore new territories of musical expression without caring about if they are going to be accused for that. I remember Greg Macintosh telling me “If people want to listen to death metal, they better listen to MORBID ANGEL” and today I deeply understand how important and sincere his words are. Strange fruit decided to record and release the live performances that LOST gave for Radio I’ s “Friday Rock Show” some years ago. So “At the BBC” consists of 3 different live shows that represent also 3 different periods of the band. The first live show is from the “Shades of god” era, second one from the “Icon and the third one from the “Draconian times” era. Cumulatively it consists of 18 tracks and some of the greatest songs that those British ever recorded. Some of them are “Pity the sadness”, “The word made flesh”, “Mortals watch the day”, “As I die”, “Shadowkings”, “Once solemn”, “Sweetness”, “Ember’s fire”, “Remembrance”, “Gothic”, “Widow”, “Eternal”, “True belief” and more. Needless to say that the sound quality is professional and the release is a gift that will satisfy every fan of the band.
