Helix - Vagabond Bones [featured album]
(Perris/Universal Canada) Total Time : 31:43
There ain’t nothing like a good time. Let’s all do it tonight….
30 years down the line Helix are still doin’ it…. And do it with style.Party good time rock is what this band has been know about and that they deliver. The album – that is only a little longer than half n hour – delivers 9 songs that just kick your ass to Canada n back …HA !
The animal inside (won’t be denied) kicks off – with an irresistible rousing chorus givin way to the equally impressive “go hard – or go home”… haha and the raucous and rousing title track.
“Monday Morning Meltdown” is a lot more like mellow and quickens 60 pop/rock comparisons, as does the slightly more raucous and funky “Bitter’s Got the Better of You”. Then there’s the hair-of-the-dog action of “Hung Over But Still Hangin’ In” which Quireboys – would be proud of and more melodic almost “Faces” “Rolling over” soundalike “Best Mistake I Never Made”. “Make ‘em Dance” makes you em – wanna dance – and kicks Buckcherry in the butt a hundred times. And then we have the raunchy “Jack It Up” that closes the 9 song romp and features some lyrics that would probably give Bon Scott a posthumous boner. Hahaha….
Overall Helix deliver hot and heavy rock n rock, so Jack it up, turn it on and rock like a mofo !
