BRUNOROCK is the solo vehicle for ex-DARK SKY and NIGHTPRIDE frontman Bruno Kraler. The project debuted with an eponymous, Italian language 1994 album, followed by"X-Over" for Target Records in 2002 and then signed to MTM Music for a 2004recording called "Interaction". Their latest effort titled "War Maniacs" , is a guitar driven AOR / Melodic Rock CD with great arrangements, featuring some amazing musicians like Alessandro Del Vecchio (EDENS CURSE /EDGE OF FOREVER ) on keyboards, John Billings ( LANCIA /Donna Summer Band) on bass guitar, Bobby Altvater (AFFAIR) on guitars and DominikHuelshorst (BONFIRE) on drums.
The album is a hidden diamond of European driven AOR/melodic hard rock. The opener ‘Breakthrough” is a sonic dynamite of compressed melody, passion and power. From the tempt ting to sing all night “Julia” to the catchy mid tempo “Last ride” the album rocks in a major way. Imagine SKAGARACK, SHY,BONFIRE, 101 SOUTH, HAREM SCAREM,STRANGER, all together in one big amalgam of melodic hard rock. They keyboards are substantial to enforce the melodic guitars that drive the whole album. THE VOCALS ARE A LOT IN THE VEIN OF Goran Edman and the music is pure Scandinavian influenced AOR with a touch of West Coast. An album, I m really sorry, I didn’t manage to put on my 2009 best of list. The pop/mainstream moments like on ‘In search of faith” where Sting and Seal are somewhere in the music, transform by the mighty choruses of the band. The FM element is all around, making this album, a real winner in its genre. Fresh like summer rain, it makes a stagnant genre, feels so fresh, just because of the craftsmanship of the composers. An album to listen and enjoy with no shame, that’s what we call AOR.
