Steve Cone is certainly not new in the trade. He has been around for a while, and from 1998 on he has been going solo quite prolifically: the 2008 release “Crazy Ei8hts” is his 11th album, and there is also a 12th one (“Unfinished Business”) that came out in 2009! That said, “Crazy Ei8hts” does not contain new songs, but songs that were released in previous, out-of-print albums, some of them having also appeared in the documentary “Get Thrashed”.
Which gives a perfect introduction on describing the music one finds in this album: Thrash Metal! Plain old-school thrash metal, very-very cogently played. “Crazy Ei8ths” is damn good and sounds like a best-of collection of thrash metal (and late NWOBHM), rather than a one-band/man album! The downside of this is that the album lacks originality, the songs sounding too familiar, but perhaps that's not the point here. Perhaps the point is not to enter the charts, but to play the music one likes, the way he likes it!
