After their successful and superb release “The Apostasy” many gigs and tours followed in order to promote their new album and spread the poison of the Ancient Babylonian gods upon the whole earth. But after some time Nergal and the rest of his unholy members started to work on new material and finally decided to enter the Radio Gdańsk studio in Poland to begin work on the album on February 16, 2009.Within those month of hard work BEHEMOTH has surpassed themselves once again and managed to record another masterpiece next to their previous discography!!! The production is quite raw but extremely evil and purposely meager. The instruments sound so obscure and haunting, especially the fast bass drum…In this album Inferno is incredibly fast with that one…no fucking relax for his feet…Never! The guitar solos, as usual, seem to come from another world: they have a strange, weird melody but everything results very catchy and brutal thanks to Nergal’s professional work. Also, his lyrics, fitting the pattern of the album, are also stunningly heartless and brutal. There are also many oriental samples spreaded throughout the whole album, making the atmosphere of “Evangelion” sound very unique and look like a blasphemous downfall to the Book of Revelation!!!
Overall, BEHEMOTH have managed to produce another successor and put them for sure within the best releases of the year once again. I don’t know for you, but for myself I think that the the tablets of the Ten Commandments will be broken when “Evangelion” reaches your hands!!!!!
