(Deathwish music) Total Time: 34:38
Bands with attitude and a thinking perspective always have my respect and attention even though they may not be in my line of musical choice. 108 are a hardcore band with love for what they do and passion that bursts throughout the speakers when the music is on. They manage to fuse their new form of expression within 34 minutes of chaotic guitars and screams and they do it quite good.
The production is what I'll begin with as these guys didn't go for the easy way of triggered organs. Their music has an open rock oriented aspect that brings a jamming band to mind, but not in a bad way. They also manipulate their strings in a way that creates new sounds. Experimenting and jamming creates business ladies and gentlemen! Vic on vocals rips his throat to shreds, leaving no doubt of his love for 108's music. These guys act as a unity and you can tell just by listening to “A Dead Beat From A Dead Heart”. Truth is the cd is quite noisy and...loud! People that enjoyed Straighthate's last album and some of Converge's tunes will develop an affection for this. But it's “annoyingly” loud and screaming at times. So, you HAVE to be a part of this movement, a trained ear to savor the tunes they spit on you.
Not much to say as I'm not on the ground. The only thing I'll add is the incredible artwork that accompanies 108 and their attitude. Beautiful and minimal, it blends smooth colors and partly broken textures, a fact that fits perfect to the music.
Respect bros. Move on!
