(Regain Records) Total Time 01:05:34
With the Pagan and Egyptian gods guarding their back, BEHEMOTH is a Polish Blackened/Death Metal band and one of the most respectful of this genre in Europe generally. This time in 2008 something very important takes place… This is the time for their first live album ever that has just been released by Regain Records in every music store around. It’s a very good chance to experience BEHEMOTH playing live as their gigs are one of a kind!!!!!
First of all, in this live album 17 songs take place covering their whole discography from the memorable “Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic )” up until their last goliath with the name “The Apostasy”. Actually, most of the songs are coming from this release and as a fact this album is definitely like a nuclear bomb!!! BEHEMOTH’s style of playing has changed dramatically over the past 6 years and after the evil “Zos Kia Cultus” they focus more on the Death Metal than their previous Blackened style...But they have managed to mix these two unholy genres in one and that’s why BEHEMOTH is one of the most unique bands that exist. As a matter of fact, Infernus now has some minigun like blastbeats and double bass patterns making their music a lot heavier than their first years. In this live album there is also a drum solo in the 8th track that proves this!!! Damn, his style of playing puts him among the best drummers of nowadays, something everyone that has seen them live can absolutely aknwoledge (including me of course!!!). For some people almost 1 hour of live performance generally may seem a little bit “empty”, but in reality BEHEMOTH manage to bring ten times the destruction of WWII in this timeline for sure and everyone feels that after the show… Their unstoppable playing will definitely make even the last fans in the end to bang their heads with fury, while the closest ones and especially those lucky ones in the mosh pit will create the most brutal and rampage circle pits around!!!! If you see some live videos/bootlegs or their previous DVD releases you will understand what I mean with the words “destruction/chaos/disorder”!!!
To sum up, “At the Arena ov Aion (Live Apostasy)” is a hell of a kind live album and definitely one of the most havoc and violent live concert of Behemoth so far… If only they could pay us a visit sometime here in Greece again. It is very disappointing to hear every year that one of the most devastative bands in history can’t come to play in your homeland because of the promoters!!!!
