S.I.N. are coming right out of the ashes of German melodic rockers Forever, who released one notable album (“Faces Of The Past”). German/Norwegian hard rockers S.I.N. (Somewhere Into Nowhere) will release their third album, “The 13th Apostle”, with the addition of a new frontman, Patrick Simonsen, also known from Norwegian rockers Hush, you will also hear Carsten 'Lizard' Schulz (Evidence One, Roger Staffelbch, ex – Domain), Connie ‘Conor’ Andreszka (Cabal, Circle Of Pain, Crystal Ball) and Renee Walker (female American rock singer). Boban Milojevic (Snake Eye, Wicked Sensation) has contributed some additional background vocals.
I guess this is a concept album, something not very often fond in melodic hard rock. “The 13th Apostle” is a conceptual piece which explores the story of Julian, one of the so called apocryphal gospels of Christ conveniently suppressed by the then emergent Christian Church at the Council Of Nicaea back in the fourth century. Although religion is not my cup of tea, the guys have made an album where we can easily trace Pretty Maids, Victory and such kind of European hard rock. Guitar oriented and hard rock driven music. The female vocals, for the various characters that are pictured in the album are giving extra depth to the album that has to be compared with the mighty “Operation Mindcrime” the more it becomes conceptual. Yet, the hard rock roots of the band give them that extra feeling of ear pleasure that most of the metal bands have lost in our days. A dark concept album, with radio friendly songs, strong melodies, interesting female vocals and in conclusion, a more than decent one to listen to.
