(Metal Mind Records)
During 2004 (1st February) GORGOROTH filmed an infamous and far beyond hateful live DVD in Krakow, Poland. The concert featured many decapitated and staked sheep heads, a bloodbath of 80 liters of sheep’s blood (if only I could be there and smell this rotting liquid!), 4 full-naked crucified humans (of course they were alive), flaming torches, 2 huge pentagrams and a wooden fence with spikes right in front of the crowd!
As you may all know this show was so “blasphemous and irreverent” for the Polish community that the band was accused for religious offense (which is prosecutable under Polish law) and breaking the Polish animal rights laws (though Ghaal has stated the sheep's heads were purchased from a butcher shop and the band was involved in no such animal cruelty). The master tapes of the show were seized and the Polish producer of the concert was eventually fined 4,658 US Dollars! The whole controversy led to the band being dropped from the roster of the Nuclear Blast Tour and the footage of the concert being confiscated by the police. Following this controversy - and also having achieved a satisfactory degree of worldwide recognition through Nuclear Blast's distribution facilities - GORGOROTH terminated their contract with the label. After 4 whole years it was about time for them to release this material under Metal Mind Records on June 9th (Europe).
Now what about GORGOROTH’s live appearance? Well, I am totally impressed and stunned by its unholy, irreligious, misanthropic and hateful performance! First of all, Gaahl stares at the crowd with the most frozen look and stone-faced, misanthropic (fuck you all pathetic excuses of life!) feeling I’ve ever seen till now! If you were in front of him while he was looking at you, you would definitely crap your pants! He is not moving across the stage, he delivers his curses with stentorian seriousness, he is a king! On the other point Infernus, King ov Hell and Apollyon torture their instruments up to the point that the most hellish melodies are coming out of the speakers! Their attitude on stage is equal to a minimalistic headbanging and satanic playing.
As it was mentioned before, the whole scenery looked like an unholy ritual as it was boosted by all the aforementioned features, lightened with red spotlights and sometimes filled with smoke (if Dante was at this live show his Inferno would be much more evil!). The sound is clear and there are lots of cameras to witness what happened that legendary night. Within 55 minutes a unique show was held by Satan’s sons.
The DVD includes bonus video material (2 songs: “Destroyer” and “Incipit Satan”) – recorded live at With Full Force Festival, Leipzig held in 2000. You can also find full band and members’ biography, discography, photo gallery, desktop images, weblinks and last but not least Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound! None should be unpleased by this DVD release! Black Metal fans should kick some dust up to grab a hold of this DVD which presents a massive/legendary and totally professionally worked concert with “decent” audio and video attributes. Just excellent!
PS. I rated this DVD up to 5,5/6 and not up to 6/6 cause I’m really worried about the current situation between Gaahl/King ov Hell and Infernus ( you all know what’s going on).
