Metalheads everywhere, this is the brand virginal DEGRADEAD album and is called “Til Death Do Us Apart”. It seems that 2008 will be an amazing year! The last week I was talking about the great release of Kalmah which is now followed by a similar pretty good work that comes to destroy everything that survived of Kalmah’s riffs.
For those that have not ever heard of DEGRADEAD, their music is a karma of aggressive melodic death metal with lots of new wave elements and many alternations between the speeds and the brutal and clear vocals. The opening song is called “Genetic Waste” and DEGRADEAD start with the most expected way; a catchy speedy riff that will lead you to a merciless head banging. As the song proceeds the slower rhythmic parts with the amazing drum tempos in the refrain and the brutal vocals are be followed by the clear ones making apparent the In Flames’ influences while many Soilwork ones are walking around as well.
Numerous of catchy riffs and tens of other wonderful melodies and solos (check this one in “Pass Away”) are flooding the entire album. “Til Death Do Us Apart” is an album that I proudly propose to all of you out there. The great production is a strong weapon on DEGRADEAD’s hand since the entire album is full of what I personally really want; melodies, melodies and…. Melodies!
The album was produced, mixed and engineered in IF studios by a team called H.O.R.D.E. which is consisted of Bjorn Gellote, Jesper Stromblad and Daniel Snensson…Do this names remind you anything??? Check In Flames’ line-up and you’ll see!
“Til Death Do Us Apart” is a colorful trip of 41 minutes. Songs like “Genetic Waste”, “Relations to the Humanity”, “The Bloodchain”, “Take Control” (damn no! I love all of them)…will definitely break your neck. All the compositions in here are great. The outro and semi-titled song “Til Death Do Us Apart” is an instrumental one, having an acoustic beautiful guitar and is the only one in here that will care of your suffering, trying to give you the kiss of life…it’s up to you if you can survive!
