Steelraiser - Race Of Steel
(Pure Steel) Total time: 39:51
STEELRAISER is a new Italian band founded by the guitar player of Valkija and Noble Savage’s singer and this is their debut CD. I don’t know what the future holds for both bands these guys were involved, truth is that we haven’t heard from Valkija in a long while now.
The promo sheet makes a comparison with “Painkiller”. I have to agree here (although not fully), the music is mostly Power Metal stuff with great vocals and some more Epic melodies. You can find some average tracks like “Gears of War” or “Evil’s Rage” for example but the outcome is more than positive for this new Italian band. The main drawback for me is the use of some annoying keyboard melodies / effects which sound very odd and not Metal at all at times like in “Race of Steel”, “Gears of War” or “Gloria Perpetua” (one of the most average songs on the CD).
I am sure that Power Metal fans will like most songs on this CD. Those of you that were familiar with the previous bands these guys were involved with don’t expect anything close. Maybe at times STEELRAISER sounds like Noble Savage but this is mostly because of the vocals. Definitely not a classic, but more than an enjoyable listen. The cover is more than average by the way.
