HAIVE is a folk/black metal band coming from Finland (Imatra) and was formed in 2002. Since now they have released three demos and one split cd, and “Mieli Maassa” is their first full-length album. The touch of Burzum has left an evil mark upon the band as the use of their native language increases the unworldly and epic atmosphere of their music.
“Mieli Maassa” is an ironbound, warlike, with low-tempo rhythms and treble guitars album, as the specific genre requires. Mouth harps and kannels transform the songs into war hymns with the raw vocals of the old black metal school adding and completing the strength and the wrath that is needed. Lyrics are about death, sorrow and nature. The production could have been better and I think that this is the weaker point of this release. However, it surely worths your attention…
