Firewind - The Premonition [featured album]

(Century Media) Total Time: 45:16

Some people were born with special talents. Their aim is to hit the top. The Greek Gus G. is one of those people whose guitar skills are unbelievable! Having lots of experience with bands such us Dream Evil and Nightrage, he cancelled the offer of Michael Ammot to join Arch Enemy because all he wanted was to follow his own dream; to create a superb band that would be touring all over the world playing on the biggest stages. This dream acquired “flesh and bones” under the name of FIREWIND. The latest album of the band, “Allegiance” was the biggest success of the band that automatically rocked the band reputation in great heights.

Two years after the great “Allegiance”, a successor comes which is called “The Premonition”. Gus G talks about the greatest period of the band with the greatest line up that the band has ever had. “The Premonition” proudly comes to appreciable follow its predecessor. This album is the biggest ordeal of the band since it has to prove that a work proportional to “Allegiance” is possible.

It seems that they achieved their objective. “The Premonition” is a wonderful album with great compositions. The music is near to the “Allegiance” one. The music style resembles much the “Allegiance”, but still goes further towards the hard rock genre. The wedding between power metal and hard rock was excellent. FIREWIND looks that have found this formula and can use it pretty well.

The album starts with an acoustic a-la Metallica riff which is the intro of the first song “Into The Fire”. This song is really a source of energy and power! Lethal riffs follow each other and in combination with the absolutely great drum section, this song is the loudest and the fastest of the album. “Mercenary Men” is also one of the album’s hits and it already has a video while a cd-single of this song is also available. All the songs in the album are really catchy and the entire album is really pleasant in all of its duration. Apollo Papathanasiou belongs in the elite of the new generation’s power metal vocalists. His voice is one of the strongest FIREWIND’s weapons. The keyboarder Bob Katsionis has a very prominent role on this album, almost as important as Gus G’s! The keyboards sections are just…awesome. Any words for Gus G are unnecessary. This guy plays like a God! His guitar solos on this album are for one more time signal deposited. “The Premonition” has it exactly as it should have and you can find anything you want on it. “My Loneliness” is a beautiful ballad that is going to be loved while “Maniac” has a very wonderful hard rock/disco a-la 80’s refrain that is perfectly give another color to Firewind’s music.

This album is really great and walks on the same paths-of-success as “Allegiance”. It’s our honor that all I said above are results of a Greek band that propagate their country all over the world!
