EWIG FROST (eternal frost in English) are coming from Austria and don’t figure on revealing their names. They introduce themselves as N., D. and F. and as we know only N. has participated in another project, called “Katjuscha”.
From the first minute of the album you’re able to understand that here you have to deal with an old school black metal band. Excepting the atmospheric intro, the rest of the album consists of raw guitars, fast drumming and grimy grunts. The production has a “demo tape” recording quality which I can’t understand if it is like that by accident or because they liked the way it sound. Anyhow, I admit that it fits nice to the whole project, but this is not enough. In general this work is nothing neither new nor interesting. Of course if you manage to listen to the entire album, you will notice obvious but kind of ineffective influences by Mayhem, Darkthrone and Carpathian Forest. Even their lyrical themes haven’t something special. Once more we will hear about war, religion and chaos. But that’s the least of all.
Unfortunately this is a bad effort by three fresh musicians to show us their talent and inspiration. The only good moment of the album is the third track, “Throne Of Slaves”, which manages to get out of the gutter and stand tall above all other songs of this album.
