Darkest Hour - Deliver Us [featured album]
(Victory Records) Total Time: 39:17
DARKEST HOUR is a band that really worths a lot. Their melodic metal-core sound which is full of atmosphere, belongs to the most catchy metal kind nowadays which is followed by many new bands and a huge percentage of metal heads.
The american DARKEST HOUR, walk next to the path that bands such as As I Lay Dying and Killswitch Engage walk and are here to put their own “brushstroke” in metal-core sound, using as a base the Swedish death metal formula that At The Gates created in the past; In Flames influences are obvious as well.
“Doomsayer” is the opening song of “Deliver Us” which starts with a beautiful acoustic intro until it bursts out to the electric-guitar rhythm part of the song which worthily delivers its line to the main a-la At The Gates Swedish riff that is really going to seize you from the neck and lead you to a merciless head banging. The entire album is full of melodies and alternations between the brutal vocals and the clear ones. The vocalist of the band John Henry accomplishes equally well on both of the parts. I loved the entire album from the first play. I’m sure that everyone who listens to this kind of metal will also love it.
“Deliver Us” is a game between some couples of guitar melodies which continuously are crashed from some lethal riffs and diabolical drums like a huge bulldozer does. I really can’t talk about hits. Each song of the album has its own role and generous serves you dozens of feelings. I suggest you to listen to the glorious “A Paradox With Flies” and the colorful “Fire In The Sky” for a small taste. It’s true that all the songs are really catchy and stick into your mind from the beginning. The bright production is the key-of-success as it attributes the music and these feelings in the best possible way.
Congratulations should be given to the band. I can’t hide the fact that I’m an exact fan of what I’ve heard in “Deliver Us”. It’s true that I love the melodies and all these alternations between the vocals and the speeds and it seemed that DARKEST HOUR worked exactly as I could not expect! Fans everywhere, grab it. This is a masterpiece!
