HEMGLOBINA come from Bologna, Italy and their name could have been taken from the song “Haemoglobin” of Placebo, or it could be a memory of their years studying chemistry or medicine, but who really cares when the 5 songs they present us are really good? The band plays hard rock close to stoner with lots of wah – wah and other effects on their guitars. They have a space kind of atmosphere, not like Hawkwind, but close to Monster Magnet and their style. Yet their riffs are really heavy, faithful to the Black Sabbath tradition and that is pleasant for metal fans. Especially the song “Makes You Sick” would easily become a hit with a nice radio edit and if the word fucking was omitted from the chorus. What makes HEMOGLOBINE stand out is their vocalist who covers a big part of the music with his rough and lengthy voice. Don’t be fooled by the duration, there are 5 songs of around 4,5 minutes in here, although you have to wait 10 minutes after the last one has ended just to hear 5 seconds of music and some studio laughter. Artistic freedom they say… How about for something longer soon?
