CROSSWIND is a band from Thessaloniki, Macedonia (you know which Macedonia... "Far to the East, in a part of ancient Greece, in ancient land called Macedonia..."), Greece. They were formed in 1996, released a demo in '98 and then dissolved for 6 years until two founding members Kyriakos Vasdokas (Guitars, Vocals) and Bill Mitsaris (Drums) put the band together again in 2005 and the demo "Beyond" is the outcome.
4 songs of blasting power metal come straight in your face as soon as you dare to go beyond! CROSSWIND's sound is a combination of Helloween's "Walls Of Jericho". Blind Guardian's "Battalions Of Fear" and Running Wild's "Gates To Purgatory" which means raw, fast and deadly power metal with melodies, epic choruses and bridges. I think that in this demo the band used drum machine, but if it is a real drummer or if the real one can play those Jorg Michael tempos, then CROSSWIND made themselves a significant part of the domestic power metal scene with just 4 songs since all the other elements are sufficient enough: The guitars have the necessary heavy sound and the vocals give a great polemic aura. Even the cover and the booklet are of professional level. I haven't heard this kind of furious power based on NWOBHM and Iron Maiden for a long time. Check them, support them, sign them!
