KERBENOK is a German band and they were born in the winter of 2000. After releasing a demo work and a double cd in 2008, “Der Erde Entwachsen (Gewollte Wunden)” comes to life. As self-described, their music presents nature spirit and that’s more obvious if you check the lyrics (written in German) and the artwork done in this album. In their official website KERBENOK say: “there is none which is not involved in the circle of nature, the immortal soul and the magic of percepting and creating countless realities into the one and everlasting - surrounding and flowing through us”. That’s a message beyond the boundaries of music that finds me agreeing with…
After this interesting introduction it’s time to talk about the album. So… “Der Erde Entwachsen (Gewollte Wunden)” consists of 3 songs (the shortest lasts 6:10 min) as it’s a mini CD (the full-length will be released in August 2008). KERBENOK seem to be matured and they managed to enrich their songs adding more musical instruments (gong, flute and some more) raising the interest of the listener and picking up the quality of the final result. The change between fast-dynamic parts to calmer and slower ones is the successful formula that KERBENOK use in order to achieve their goal. The distortioned guitars, the frenzy drums and the typical black metal vocals combined with real relaxing melodies, technical riffs and few orchestral parts leads you want to listen more and more from them.
As a conclusion to all these I have to notice and to admit that, as it seems, this mini cd is an excellent piece of their following full-length album. These guys surely know how to create music and how to keep you close to this! Great job!!!
