Well, this is an audience recording of Gillan’s eponymous band warming up for the Reading festival in 78, performing a short set at the marquee club, and tearing mostly through some of it’s own material as well as a few purple standards, with even “the man in black” coming in during the encore… hehe. Well it’s nice an all and the atmosphere is undeniably nice , but the recording sorely lacks clarity, there’s a German couple that keeps commenting between and during some tracks, and “Abbey of Thelema” didn’t survive as the tape got chewed up by the machine … so it is not included here.
For the craziest of completists or the complete Purple freak it’s probably a lost treasure… for the rest of the world it may be taken as a low quality audience recording.
