The main man behind progressive, symphonic metallers MOONLIGHT COMEDY, guitarist Simone Fiorletta returns fresh with his second solo album “My Secret Diary”. He is well known for his technical abilities and the way he can contribute and perform in a band, but he is also capable of expressing beyond the limitations of even a progressive metal band. His previous solo work ‘Parallel Worlds’ established him among the promising young metal guitar gods, this time he has the mindset for something totally different in style and approach. With this solo album concept he is bringing a more refined style and expressive sound through a myriad of styles all showcasing Simone’s versatility on the instrument. He describes I his own words the album as, “A mirror of my soul” and it’s this very personal touch that makes ‘My Secret Diary’ a very accessible album for any music fan. Musically speaking at the metal/rock parts we can easily find the Satriani influences along with the melodic touch from maestros like Michael Schenker and the more elegant style of guitar wizards like Neal Schon and Steve Lukather. He stays away form the classical scales besides one piece out of the ten that this album contains while he exhibits a preference for light jazz motives and easy listening tunes in a more rock form. So he plays easily as he is skilled with fret board magic along with light heart lifting tunes and succeeds in create an instrumental album that keeps the listener concentrated and pleased on the contrary with the more young guitar masters who become usually over technical and confused adopting the fusion style .The ten tracks on “My Secret Diary” sees Simone team up with a world class backing band of Andrea De Paoli (LABYRINTH) on keyboards, Pasko (Cans) on bass and drummer Tony Liotta (Sting, Tina Turner and many more) for a truly enjoyable release. An album that has its place among the good instrumental works which aim to the listener and not fellow musicians.
