This Danish band has a great advantage which is also their big disadvantage. Their sonic similarities to the good time METALLICA. Especially at the voice department, they could be the best METALLICA cover band if they didn’t have such talent. With this their second full length work, they move to even weirdest paths. They still have the really heavy metal guitars and the tight rhythm section, but they introduce at their sound some weird elements like country or dance, electro elements. Don’t think that they deviate from the metal path, they just let their rock and pop routs interfere to their main music results and sound sometimes like what METALLICA tried unsuccessfully at “load/reload”. In conclusion, this album is definitely metal, a little mutated maybe, but still metal in a way that brings tradition a step further and METALLICA wondering why they cannot be so innovative. VOLBEAT have the musicianship, the songs and the guts to get rid of the METALLICA wannabees label and create more heavy f…ing metal ear pleasuring albums like this. Dig it.
