This interesting release comes from Australian outfit MEMORIA, which basically is a solo project of guitarist/songwriter Jonathan Carroll. Jonathan set out to create a somewhat Dark Acoustic/Folk album with the help of his Spanish guitar playing and I can only inform you of my great surprise upon hearing this EP.
At times, many people will find this release boring, but give it time and it will grow on you. His style of playing is impeccable and I believe that this must be the only band that uses the Spanish guitar in such a way. There are certainly a dozen or so of new ideas and experimentations surrounding it and most songs clock over the 5-minute border – very interesting come to think of it!
A good try and a worthy EP for its money; Fans of the Dark/Folk/Acoustic genres should definitely have a listen to it, while even some Gothic fans will find shelter and food as well…
