Once again BEHEMOTH from Poland are here. Steady to their polymorphic style that they always had, and has made them a band that has played almost everything in the extreme genre of music as much as in recognition, success but also snatch with their last work. We see here that ‘Nergal” along with his label wants to “blow up the cash-box”. I don’t really know if he will manage it and of course I don’t know if he deserves it but that is something that you will figure out yourselves. Well, in “Apostasy” BEHEMOTH are moving basically to technical Death Metal style with some symphonic parts. “Apostasy” is a well arranged album but unfortunately without some coherence, and sometimes it is getting “drowned” in its two basic influences: DIMMU BORGIR and NILE (there is a lot of NILE in there!...) If we pass through this fact and we accept the fact that the leader of the band “Nergal” just wanted to put his influences into the album then we can say that here we are dealing with a remarkable work. The problem is that both DIMMU BORGIR and NILE have already performed this way for a long time before BEHEMOTH.
The result is that we are having eleven tracks that are small in time and trendy enough that doesn’t get you tired and manage to be listened joyfully. The demonology in all its majesty, are expressioned along with rage from “Nergal”. We find some blast-beats and technical parts put the speed is very lower than “Thelema 6” which in my opinion is the best work of the band until now. With “Apostasy” they are trying to catch a different audience and this is why they invested in an expensive producer so the mix has been in “DUGOUT STUDIOS” with Deniel Bergstand as a producer (IN FLAMES, MESSUGGAH, SYL). Also the mastering has been made by Biorn Engekmann (RAMMSTEIN).
So, if “In Sorte Diaboli” wasn’t enough for you just listen also to this work. As for those of you who are the ones who are waiting for the new NILE album you can get “The Apostasy” as the first “dish” and wait for their almighty work that is being waited at the moment.
Oh! I almost forgot: Warel Dane (NEVERMORE/SANCTUARY) participates in a song that sounds like a tribute to DIMMU BORGIR.
