Jon Nodtveidt, after serving 8 years in prison, puts DISSECTION together once more and starts a world tour that was meant to be the last for humanity to witness. It is utterly pointless for me to write about the contribution of DISSECTION to music in general (not blackmetal or even metal music)… “Rebirth Of Dissection” depicts the highlight of the bands final tour a few weeks after their last album “Reinkaos” was released. It was filmed in the Stockholm arena and the setlist was truly made out of pure gold including only older material except for “Maha Kali” that sounds killer on a live performance. The lineup included guitarist Set Teitan (Aborym), bassist Brice Leclerq (Nightrage) and drummer Tomas Asklund (Dark Funeral) and the band is surely giving out performance lessons that will put a smile on your face. I can say no more.
The DVD production as a whole is awesome. Multiple camera angles, crystal clear sound production and a fast and furious editing are just a bite at the cherry. The 25 minute interview with Jon Nodtveidt a short time before his passing will keep you more than plain interested as the discussion walks into paths that, at some point over, have nothing to do with music and portray the philosophy and way of life of a blackmetal legend… One can also find bonus material such as the music video of “Starless Aeon” and a photogallery slideshow.
“Rebirth Of Dissection”, for me personally, was a life-changing experience.
