Waltari - Release Date

(Bluelight Records) Total Time: 70:57

Long time no see! Not even a year has passed since their last album “Blood Sample” that was more like a joke and the crazy Finnish gang is back with a new release to prove us all wrong.
“Release Date” is an actual album and a really good one to be honest. This time they made real pieces of music that can be called songs that combined together make an album. This is how it should go normally, if that word means anything to them. Not that they suddenly lost their sense of humour or that they were cured by their obvious insanity. That is still their drive to create music.
The 11th album of WALTARI combines their sharp and fast playing with their innovative ideas using weird samples and cuts with classical piano. They have a great guitar distortion which is electronically oriented and so the pure electronic loops that pop up out of nowhere from time to time fit perfectly with it. This album can be characterized in one phrase as dancefloor metal and it is as interesting as it sounds. Those guys can start play techno thrash of high quality and change the whole attitude of the song in an instance in various ways. The two skilful guitarists that work as a team produce hooky melodies and riffs one after another in a huge range of speeds.
WALTARI are not the typical metal band for sure. You may be annoyed by their unique style and consider them as too much schizophrenic to be counted for real musicians, but as long as they produce consistent music they are too good to be ignored. “Release Date” is as weird as its creator, but that doesn`t mean that it is worthless. On the contrary if you give it a try you will see WALTARI`s productive and inspired side that I guarantee won`t let you down.
