One of the most descent and at the same time most respected European death metal acts is back with a new full length, after the blasting “The Art Of War”. So, everyone who wanted more fast tempos after that appetizing miniCD, must know that “Impressions In Blood” will satisfy their needs for sure. “Impressions In Blood” follows the unmatched aggression of “The Art Of War”, it definitely is the fastest Vader album since “Litany” and believe me, it’s better and musically more adventurous than that. Everything in the new album is perfectly calculated: the high-speed and furious energy, a few synth parts offer a more death metal, “scary” atmosphere, the awesome vocals of Peter (I still believe he’s one of the band’s strongest weapons), the drum-kit is literally on fire, the killing riffs are coming from every direction and the wah-wah laden solos are present in a SLAYER-ish way. Only in two songs, “Predator” and “The Book”, VADER show us a more mid-tempo view, they’re steady, heavy and epic.
VADER is part of the genre for many years now and with albums like “Impressions In Blood” they don’t only keep their fame unspoiled, but they also make it bigger. They may be not as glorious as other death metal acts like CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE and SUFFOCATION, but their albums should in no way be absent from any deathster’s collection. That goes for “Impressions In Blood” as well.
