For those of you who never heard of ALL SHALL PERISH before, let me just tell you that they had released last year's "Hate.Malice.Revenge" (actually the re-release by Nuclear Blast), an album that turned more than enough heads and caused quite a buzz. To be honest I haven't listened to that album, but I have listened to their new offering.
In all honesty, I can't say I was amazed or even slightly "moved" by this release. ALL SHALL PERISH play brutal and technical Death metal in the vein of DYING FETUS (my absolute favourite death band of all time!), SIX FEET UNDER, etc. Don't get me wrong, they are good instrumentalists and songwriters and there are some "diamonds" to be found in-between the tracks. But for me, they just don't cut it. I just feel that they're not there yet and they have a long road ahead of them.
I know for certain that most death metal fans will praise this album and I can't blame them. It is a good album; it's just that I personally believe that they're not there yet (and with this I mean that they don't deserve a "5" or a "6" for now). For the rest of you, grab this album and ROCK HARD MY CHILDREN!!!
