Requiem Aeternam - Philosopher

(Rawforce Productions), Total time: 46:20

A pretty interesting attempt to combine modern death metal with philosophical experts from great thinkers The line-up founders consisted of Martín López (AMON AMARTH; OPETH) on drums, Martín Méndez (OPETH) on bass, Pablo Magallanes on guitar and José Romero (INNER SANCTUM) handling guitar and vocal duties. They considered one of the most promising South American bands, and have relocated in New York City with a new line up which features Alex Hernández (ex. IMMOLATION) on drums..While musically we have a death metal approach close to DEATH, CYNIC, SADUS, complicated, full of tempo changes, riff after riff, technocratic death metal for the masses as I like to characterize it, what brings the new element is the words. The lyrics are based on various philosophers like, Nietzsche, Senecas, Rousseau and Tzu. These famous thinkers give to the whole attempt an extra weight at the lyrical department. As for the music, the technical death metal we hear, with a few thrash arrangements is well played and innovative enough to keep you interested. At the end of the listening of the album, you stay satisfied from the product, still there are a lot to do, besides brutal and clear vocal changes and some complex riffing, to stay close to bands like DEATH, CORONER, KREATOR. On the other hand with "Philosopher" the guys are at the right path. Since it is not their first work and need more things to persuade us, about their invaluable effort in Death metal, we will wait them to see how it will prove their next musical studio attempt
