Is the name Daniel Jakubovic ringing a bell to you? No? What about Jordan Rudess?. Well, the keyboard maestro of the progressive rock miracle band DREAM THEATER, supports, by his participation and the inner notes, young Israeli origin, guitar player, singer, composer, Daniel J. He believes at him, his abilities and supports him, 110%. Is he right, or is he wrong? Listening to the album with the oxymoron title "Losing time", I have to agree with him. Daniel J, is a gifted guitar player, a very good singer and most of all a very interesting composer. He is clearly, on the progressive side of things, but at his music you can listen to influences, from such diverse artists such as Lenny Kravitz, KANSAS, LIVE, CREED all in a blend that makes you wanna listen to more. Behind the complex rhythms, we follow on edgy, modern melodic vocal lines ,even some post grunge influences ,The album, is an interesting suggestion ,for progressive metal or shall we say alternative progressive rock. Of course the guitar parts are more than out standing, as are the rhythm sections, which lead the whole album, more to the progressive side. What we have to do, is to wait for the next work, where, I think he need of a whole band, to move to a next level working with other musicians, and exchanging ideas. Some interesting ideas as the use of saxophone, just add the spice to this excellent debut, for an artist who has been working on these compositions for the whole 2003 and 2004.He has the abilities, the skills and the credits, its up to him, to make it or break it, as they say. Certainly this is an album, that stands out from the sea of DREAM THEATER, KANSAS imitators, because it has character and point of view. I think he has to avoid the Richie Kotzen syndrome, of been too many things in one, and a bright future lies ahead of him.
