Gammacide - Victims Of Science

(Gammarecords) Total Time: 66:50

The web world is fucking awesome. Not only you have the chance to find out about new talents, but also to discover old stuff, bands totally unknown to you. Thank God, internet gives you the opportunity to make up for everything you missed in the past even cause you didn't have the money as a kid , or even cause of lack of proper distribution (especially here in Greece, in the 80's it was shit!!)

So during practicing this sport in my beloved Thrash Metal genre, amongst others interesting discoveries, my biggest was GAMMACIDE. You can't imagine how happy, satisfied, proud I felt when GAMMICIDE smashed my unsuspecting and greedy ears. These Texans have the power to conquer every thrasher's heart. Their style is between Violence and Evildead (I don't mention these bans as an influence, because they are same period bands) and of course they have a little Slayer and Exodus influences. Here of course we have mainly fast tempos, nearly blastbeats sometimes, with great, full of excellent riffs mid tempo breaks and superb lead guitars, the vocals remind me Sean Killian, not so high as Violence's singer , but in a more brutal way. Lyrically GAMMACIDE refer to social and issues as most thrash metal acts in late '80's did (which obviously are still problems nowadays, aren't they?)

This reissue contains the 9 song "Victim Of Science" debut (and only release of the band), originally released in 1989, a 4-song demo released on 1991 and finally 2 new songs recorded on 2004/2005 . The only difference that these two songs have with the old material is that they are sounded a little bit more technical, but without loosing the anger and the uncompromising style of GAMMACIDE music. The production in every song is perfect with a quality thrashy feeling.

My advice to every thrash metal junkie is to buy (note: the only store that I find it in stock so far is the The End Records store) this remarkable release immediately and of course visit the www.gammacide.com , they deserve your attention and support for sure, go for this old diamond.

P.S. : The "Victims Of Science" reissue is dedicated to their first bassist Eric Rov 1961 - 2001, R.I.P.
