Epica - The Score, An Epic Journey

Total Time: 63:33

This album was more of an surprise than anything from the Dutch Female Epic Metal Masters EPICA. An album almost instrumental, that has the minimum of participation from their vocalist. Instead they focus at the cinematographic dimension of their music and they achieve some excellent results. EPICA are not afraid the experimentation, on the contrary with releases like that, they prove that their way of thinking is out of the box and that they have the vision to fulfill. They create strong images through their powerful orchestrated music, achieving feelings of grandiose, greatness among others to their listener. Their scores are reminding a lot of the soundtrack for the movies like the "Last of the Mohican", or "Excalibur" having followed closely movie score makers like John Barry and Danny Elfmann. Pompous still adventurous, they use the absence of a voice as an additional advantage, replacing the vocal line4s with the keyboards, the strings and some furious and glorious guitars .If the soundtrack of movies like the Mission is of your taste, the new EPICA album will nailed you to your seat and distract your full attention and make you devotees of this musical communion. Otherwise if bands like RHAPSODY are of your taste, this will be the best instrumental form you will ever have the chance to hear them. A brave move from a band who knows how to overcome labels.
