Well, this is something different. Not something that we’ve haven’t heard
before but something that we haven’t heard for a long time, at least on
this high standard. GJALLARHORN feature some DOMMSWORD members and play
Epic Viking Metal in the same well known barbaric style. Long tracks full
of strength and power with an ancient Nordic atmosphere and the smell of
battle and legend in every single second of the album. Through the
listening of the CD (and after the ending of it for a while) you will feel
like you are watching, and not only listening, a battlefield in the old
glorious days when men were fighting one each other in the field honestly
and proud as they should always do (and not like nowadays with some buttons
from a long distance as cowards…).
Anyway this is just a music review and not history so let’s concentrate at
the music of GJALLARHORN. The whole feeling that you’ll get from this CD is
warlike. The production is as it is has to be so we can easily talk about a
new great name that was born in the Power Metal scene. Sure there are a few
weaknesses in “Nordheim” but as a result it is a very nice sample of “war
metal”. It is sure that if this band continues to work in the same way in
the future they’ll be a special member of the top bands of our beloved
music especially if we consider that this is their debut album. So hold up
your hammers and swords high and follow them in their journey through time
back in the ancient days. I can promise you that they won’t disappoint you.
