Every time when I receive a demo release from Sweden, I am curious about it’s contents. This time around CANOPY, sent us their debut demo Cd, with four tracks, one of them featuring Dan Swano (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath) as a guest who is the culprit for the clean vocals and played a guitar solo too. I believe this thing gives a slight nudge to the band and elevates the whole result. Musically the band treads death metal territory, incorporating a lot of progressive elements in their music. The vocals are mainly death metal and they have done an excellent job in the production department as you can hear all the instruments clearly. Perhaps mr Swano, tweaked a few knobs too. As far as their influences, CANOPY, are mainly drawing them from Swedish death metal bands like Dismember, Edge of Sanity and Amon Amarth in some epic death metal moments of this release. Generally, for a debut demo, CANOPY, did a very good work and the songs are well worked. For sure a dignified release.
