Altaria - Divinity

(Metal Heaven) Total Time : 46:33

ALTARIA, are Finns, just like NIGHTWISH, STRATOVARIUS and SONATA ARCTICA to name but a few. They play a blend of melodic and power metal, that nods to some old school styles, but are also quite contemporary, bringing to mind established band’s of this era like the ones I mentioned above. In fact, I think that two members of SONATA ARCTICA are also members of ALTARIA, their singer and guitarist.
They have been going on for sometime, and this is their second album.
It is a good example of Power metal, thankfully leaning more on older styles rather than new ones. Their singer is not a complete eunuch and there might still be a keyboard in there, but guitars take up just as much space as it does. The production is really good, done in the famous Tico Tico studios. The songs seem to have been quite worked, the silly titled “Unchain the rain”, "Prophet of Pestilence", the very good “Falling Again" and "Try to Remember" are probably the highlight contained here-in. Give it a try if you appreciate this style.
