I don’t know if there is something in “Father Of Creation“ (personally, I haven’t met him) or what Max Cavalera means by that but the only thing for sure is that it has results and they are positive to destructive for any objects and places around. Chaos! This is the 4th work away from SEPULTURA and in fact it’s a SEPULTURA release after “Chaos A.D.” and “Roots” under the name of SOULFLY, or better Max Cavalera. The phenomenon called Max Cavalera wakes up one day, says the other members to depart and justifies it by saying that he wanted to do something different in “Prophecy” by hiring successful session musicians like Mark Rizzo (ILL NINO), Dave Elleffson (MEGADETH) that plays only in 5 tracks of the album (in the rest Bobby Burns is responsible) and the drums are beaten with frenzy and rage by Joe Numez that had also appeared in the previous SOULFLY album, “Primitive”. We justify Max’s decision by the fact that he lives in Brazil (which has first class “banned products”). He creates a THRASH album made in Brazil which can’t be normal. So we have 12 songs from which the 8 are the natural descendants of “Chaos A.D.” and “Roots” because Max wanted to do something different than SOULFLY and made SEPULTURA different again. We also have two “bastard” creations, “Moses” and “Parrada”. In “Moses” we have an amazing combination of reggae and thrash and in “Parrada” a combination of blues and punk! (hail to the majesty of music!). And because Max is a diligent person and knows the effect his songs have in untrained ears he has two tracks, “Soulfly IV” and “Wings” with ethnic and flamengo influences only to calm us down. Thanks. The production is handled by Terry Date (DEFTONES, PANTERA, WHITE ZOMBIE) and in the promo Max states that the production is not finished yet. I am more than interested to listen to the final result because what I heard was more than just perfect. So Max Cavalera once again has outdone himself by creating a record that doesn’t follow the normal course. An album that has as a background, tension, rage in all its glory. That comes out of nowhere to change the standards once again. Max preaches with his lyrics and urges the people to rise up since the awareness of the social classes is not so close. What is close is the fear of poverty. The fear of death is important and it is the hope for life that will lead the people to the revolution (successful or not). I hope to live the attempt. If everything else fails, I am packing up and fly to Brazil which has nice stuffs.
