This is the Debut CD from Italian DYNAMIC LIGHTS, and after the initial audition it has left me with some very good first impressions. Overall, the music is progressive metal, but because the piano/keyboards play such a lead role in all the tracks, I would dare and characterize it as more of down-tempo progressive music. This is a record that one could very well play in the background, while continuing his /her work and it is perfectly acceptable.
Thus, overall, this is a very mellow album, one that could be listened late at night, with the lights out and while relaxing on a chair or lying on the bed. It has some more “aggressive” and up-lifting parts, as well, but generally it is more of a relaxed listen. Throw it in the CD player and let the music flow in the air.
Interesting? I would say so, and to tell you the truth the album left me craving for more tracks. It, actually, consists of eight tracks (six of which range in the 6-11 minute time range). Yet, after a more careful listen, one is taken away by its mellow sound and is left wanting more...
Fans of progressive metal will probably not like this album; they will find it uninspiring, very down-tempo, without any complicated arrangements and out-of-this-world solos and, generally, not as good as other progressive albums. I, on the other hand, find it very inviting, warm and honest. The reason why I put the following rating is, because I am eagerly awaiting their next release, and because I believe that their next album will be miles ahead of this one; and I say this without jeopardizing the fact that this is indeed a very good record and one that should be experienced by all metal fans.
